Artificial intelligence (AI) refers to a system's capacity to sense its surroundings, respond in a way that optimizes the likelihood of accomplishing its objectives, and interpret and analyze data in a way that allows it to learn and adjust over time.

Based on the data it is educated on, generative AI is a type of artificial intelligence that can generate text, images, and other types of material.

The lead-to-cash process encompasses all actions about handling and completing sales orders, delivering post-purchase services, marketing and selling goods and services, and ultimately billing clients, controlling accounts receivable, and collecting money. As a fundamental component of the process, it also addresses the management of channels and customers.

The process differs primarily depending on the kind of customer (e.g., B2B versus B2C), the channels used to offer the goods and services (e.g., digital commerce, physical stores, direct sales), and the kind of goods and services offered (e.g., tangible, simple, configurable, engineered, intangible, one-time or recurring services, complex solutions, or projects).

The complete product lifetime in an end-to-end, networked, and interoperable supply chain process-from how a product is planned, produced, built, and delivered to how it works and is maintained-is included in the design-to-operate (D2O) process.

During the planning phase, strategies for the supply chain, production, and service fulfillment are defined; demand, inventory, and supply are planned; plans are aligned through sales and operations planning; and supply chain performance is managed. The final step in the planning phase is the start of operational procurement.

For both tangible and intangible items, the production stage of the process consists of production planning, production operations, quality management, and production performance management.

For services as opposed to actual items, there are differences in the process's distribution and fulfillment phase. It includes order promising, warehouse and inventory management, dock and yard logistics, transportation management, and logistics performance management for tangible items in any setting. Planning, scheduling, execution, and delivery of services are all included, as is service performance management.

Enabling foundational tasks including data administration, teamwork, material identification and tracking, and sustainable manufacturing operations round out the process.

All of the tasks involved in overseeing the thorough sourcing and acquisition of products and services are included in the source-to-pay (S2P) process. Procurement planning and management commences at the outset, and is succeeded by sourcing and supplier selection, supplier contract negotiation and management, and operational procurement preparation and execution. The following actions include receiving the products, starting any returns or claims, processing accounts payable and supplier bills, including paying the supplier in full and maintaining supplier data.

The source-to-pay procedure differs mostly according to the kind of good or service being bought. Examples of S2P variations include the purchase of direct and indirect goods, services, and solutions (such as a combo of goods and services), as well as supplies for field services.

All hiring and lifecycle management operations related to both internal and external workforces are included in the recruit-to-retire (R2R) process. In addition to managing all recurring and administrative tasks throughout the workforce lifecycle, it entails strategizing and planning human resource requirements, finding and onboarding new talent, developing talent to enable growth, and retaining talent through appropriate reward-and-recognition strategies. The latter covers handling travel and expenditure management, regular payroll and expense payments, and workforce-related data and lifecycle events like promotions, moves, or ultimate offboarding.

Depending on whether the workforce is being managed internally or externally, the R2R procedure will change. R2R incorporates the whole travel-to-reimburse procedure as well.
