"The challenge was immense: reinvent our business model in a matter of months. Developers.dev was the only partner we spoke to who had the confidence and the comprehensive expertise to tackle both the B2B and B2C sides of the project simultaneously. Their solution has been transformative, creating a resilient, multi-channel business for us."
Sophie L., Head of Digital Strategy, Euro Provisions
"Euro Provisions," a well-established European distributor of specialty foods to restaurants and hotels, saw its primary revenue stream evaporate during the pandemic. With their B2B clients closed, they needed to pivot-fast. Their goal was twofold: create a modern B2B ordering portal for their existing clients and launch a new Direct-to-Consumer (D2C) grocery delivery service to leverage their existing inventory and supply chain.
Euro Provisions was operating on a system of phone calls, emails, and faxes for B2B orders. They had no e-commerce infrastructure whatsoever. They needed to build a complex digital platform from scratch that could handle the different pricing, payment terms, and delivery logic for both wholesale and individual customers.
Building a single backend system that could power two very different front-end experiences (B2B portal and D2C app).
Integrating with their warehouse management system (WMS) to handle complex inventory logic (e.g., selling by the case vs. by the item).
Developing custom pricing rules for different B2B client tiers.
Ensuring compliance with GDPR and other European data privacy regulations.
We proposed a headless commerce architecture as the core of the solution. This allowed us to build one powerful backend and then create two separate, tailored front-end applications connected via APIs.
We built a custom backend using .NET Core and hosted it on Azure. This central system managed all products, inventory, customers, and orders. We developed a sophisticated rules engine for B2B-specific pricing and payment terms.
For wholesale clients, we created a responsive web portal using React. It featured quick order forms, order history replication, and account management tools designed for professional buyers.
For consumers, we developed a Flutter cross-platform mobile app that provided a beautiful, intuitive, consumer-grade shopping experience.
We worked closely with their logistics provider to create a robust API integration that automated order processing from the moment an order was placed to the moment it was dispatched from the warehouse.
We spent the first month focused solely on designing the headless architecture and the core API specifications. This blueprint was crucial for parallel development.
We assigned two separate frontend PODs-one for the B2B portal and one for the D2C mobile app-to work simultaneously.
The project was run using a T&M agile model, which was essential as the client was defining their new business processes in real-time.
Our process included a dedicated compliance expert who ensured every feature was designed with data privacy and GDPR principles in mind.
The B2B portal was launched first to their top 50 clients to gather feedback, followed by the public launch of the D2C app two months later.
We provided comprehensive training to the Euro Provisions team on how to manage the new system via the central admin panel we built.
The D2C app generated over €5 million in its first year, completely replacing the revenue lost during the pandemic lockdowns.
The B2B portal automated what was once a manual, error-prone process, freeing up sales staff to focus on relationships rather than data entry.
Clients loved the convenience of the new portal and began placing smaller, more frequent orders.
The company is no longer solely reliant on the hospitality industry and has a diversified, future-proof business model.
We had specialists in headless commerce, B2B e-commerce, and D2C mobile app development all under one roof.
Our ISO 27001 certification was critical for ensuring GDPR compliance.
Having all teams in-house was essential for the tight coordination required between the backend and two frontend teams.
The roadmap includes adding AI-driven inventory forecasting based on the rich data now being collected.
Euro Provisions owns the platform that is now the core of their business.
The T&M model was successful due to our detailed reporting and open communication.
Our ability to handle complex business logic was a key differentiator.
The agile model allowed the client to steer the project as they finalized their new strategy.
The headless approach allows them to easily add new frontends in the future, such as smart-fridge apps or voice ordering.
Euro Provisions' pivot is a powerful example of how a strategic technology investment can turn a crisis into an opportunity. By partnering with Developers.dev, they didn't just build a website or an app; they built a new, more resilient foundation for their business that will drive growth for years to come.
