"The team at Developers.dev is a true partner. They took the time to understand the unique financial regulations of the European logistics market. They built a fully compliant and highly reliable white-label eWallet that has become a core part of our platform's value proposition. Our carrier retention has improved significantly since launch."
Head of Operations, EuroTransact
A leading B2B marketplace in the EU that connects freight shippers with thousands of independent carriers. Their existing payment process was manual and inefficient, relying on traditional invoicing and bank transfers, which caused significant delays and administrative burdens for both parties. They needed an integrated, white-label eWallet to automate payouts and streamline financial workflows.
The client needed a secure and automated payment system to handle millions of Euros in transactions each month. The solution had to be compliant with EU financial regulations (PSD2), offer multi-currency support (EUR, GBP), and integrate seamlessly into their existing platform, appearing as a native feature.
Adhering to PSD2 (Payment Services Directive 2) and its Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) requirements.
The system needed to handle escrow-like functionality, releasing funds only after proof of delivery was confirmed.
The eWallet had to be fully brandable and deeply integrated into their existing web and mobile platforms via APIs.
The platform needed to manage transactions and balances in multiple currencies with transparent exchange rates.
We provided a Java Microservices Pod to build the robust backend and a Technical Documentation Pod to ensure the APIs were crystal clear for the client's front-end team.
Our architects designed the payment flow to be fully compliant with PSD2 and SCA, working with a regulated e-money institution (EMI) partner in the EU for fund handling.
While not a blockchain solution, the backend logic mimicked a smart contract, creating a digital escrow that held funds and automatically triggered payouts based on API calls confirming delivery status.
We developed a comprehensive suite of secure REST APIs that allowed the client's internal team to build the user interface, giving them full control over the user experience while we handled the complex financial backend.
We integrated with a third-party foreign exchange service (like Wise Platform) to provide real-time, low-cost currency conversions.
Technology and partner selection (EMI, FX), deep-dive into regulatory requirements, and high-level architecture design.
Development of the core microservices for user wallets, transaction processing, and the escrow/payout logic.
Rigorous security testing, performance tuning, and deployment to a staging environment. The client's team began integration work using our detailed API documentation.
End-to-end testing with the client's front-end applications.
Go-live, followed by our SRE team providing hyper-care support for the first month of operation.
Carrier payout times were reduced from an average of 15 days to less than 24 hours.
The client reduced their accounts payable team by 40% due to the automation of the payout process.
Carrier satisfaction and retention increased by over 25% in the first year.
The solution passed all regulatory audits, ensuring the client could operate without risk of fines or sanctions.
This project highlights our ability to tackle complex, regulation-heavy B2B challenges. By focusing on a secure, API-first, white-label backend, we empowered the client to dramatically improve their operational efficiency and strengthen their market position without needing to become financial technology experts themselves.
