"Developers.dev delivered on the promise of true omnichannel retail. For the first time, we have a single view of our customers and inventory. Our 'Click & Collect' service, powered by their solution, has been a massive success, driving foot traffic and increasing sales both online and in-store. Their technical expertise is matched only by their strategic insight."
Chief Digital Officer
A major Australian retailer with over 200 physical stores and a disjointed online presence. Their website, built on an aging monolithic platform, was completely disconnected from their in-store POS and inventory systems. This created a frustrating experience for customers and massive operational inefficiencies for the business. They had an annual revenue of AUD 400M.
The client could not offer modern retail experiences like Buy Online, Pick-up In-Store (BOPIS), ship-from-store, or unified customer loyalty programs. Their inventory data was siloed, leading to stockouts online when products were available in stores, and vice-versa. They needed a unified commerce platform to create a seamless experience across all channels.
We leveraged our Extract-Transform-Load / Integration Pod and MEAN / MERN Full-Stack Pod to architect a headless, API-driven solution that placed a central Order Management System (OMS) at its core.
We implemented a powerful OMS to act as the "brain" of the operation, orchestrating orders, inventory, and fulfillment across all channels.
We built a comprehensive suite of APIs to connect the OMS with all of the client's existing systems (POS, WMS, CRM, etc.), creating a single, unified data pipeline.
We used BigCommerce as the headless commerce engine to manage the product catalog and promotions.
We developed a React-based website for customers and a separate tablet-based application for in-store staff to manage "Click & Collect" orders and access the unified inventory.
A deep dive into all existing systems to map data flows and design the final API-first architecture.
Set up and customized the core OMS to handle the client's specific fulfillment logic.
The core of the project, building and testing the dozens of API endpoints needed to unify the systems.
Developed the user-facing applications in parallel with the API development.
Rolled out the solution to a small group of 10 stores to test and refine the BOPIS workflow in a real-world environment.
Deployed the solution across all 200+ stores and provided extensive training to staff.
The new "Click & Collect" and ship-from-store capabilities opened up significant new revenue.
Customers using both online and in-store channels were proven to be more loyal and spend more over time.
The unified inventory system allowed them to fulfill online orders from store stock, capturing sales that would have otherwise been lost.
The automated workflows and single view of data significantly reduced manual work and communication overhead between teams.
We provided the strategic guidance, not just the technical execution.
